Living the Lake Life

One of the largest lakes in the country, Lake Texoma is sought after by vacationers, day trippers, and home buyers alike. Truly vast in size, all manners of lake life, water sports, and outdoor recreation are available in abundance at Texoma. Homes range from cozy cabins on the lake to waterfront estates and the 1,250 miles of shoreline boast a dozen marinas, numerous resorts, hundreds of campgrounds, and a variety of golf courses. Located in the Red River Basin in Lamar County, Pat Mayse Lake is a prime destination for families who enjoy camping, boating, fishing, hiking, and other outdoor recreation. This 6,000 acre reservoir is managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers and offers easy access to developed areas including multiple campgrounds, boat ramps, scenic points, and picnic areas. Well managed and routinely stocked for decades, the lake boasts numerous sport fish populations including largemouth bass, white crappie, sunfish, and striped bass as well as channel and flathead catfish. The nearby Pat Mayse Wildlife Management Area offers nearly 9,000 acres of hunting for game species such as deer, quail, fox, mink, and more.

Beaches, boat ramps, playgrounds, and a dock for fishing are available for public use as well as several campgrounds and hiking/biking trails. Jim Chapman Lake offers 19,300 acres of breathtaking water for boating, skiing, and fishing as well as over 2,500 acres of surrounding nature and park territory.  Amenities include boat docks, fishing piers, camping sites with water and electricity, and beaches as well as biking, hiking, and equestrian trails.  Neighboring Cooper Wildlife Management Area offers over 14,000 acres of wilderness for hunting, hiking, biking and wildlife viewing.

These interconnected lakes comprise nearly 15,000 acres of water surface and over 100 miles of shoreline.  Situated near the city of Mt. Pleasant, numerous neighborhoods offer homes with convenient lake access or right on the lake itself.  Boating, fishing, camping, and hiking opportunities abound for residents and visitors alike.
